‍The role
Our product lives on watches that cost more than most people’s cars, and it has to meet the standards of the people who make them. As Watchmaker at Saef, you bring true horological craft into our engineering team: you prototype, refine, and pressure-test how our hardware integrates with fine timepieces, and you hold the bar for reliability and finish at luxury-watch level. You work hand in hand with our design and hardware engineers, translating the discipline of watchmaking into a product worthy of the watches it protects.

‍What you’ll do
• Prototype and refine how our hardware integrates with fine mechanical and luxury watches
• Hold the bar for reliability, fit, and finish at horology-grade standards
• Work closely with design and hardware engineers, bringing watchmaking discipline into the process
• Assess and test prototypes against the expectations of luxury-watch owners and makers
• Help define the quality and craftsmanship standards the product is held to

‍What we’re looking for
• Trained and experienced as a watchmaker or horologist, ideally with fine or luxury timepieces
• A genuine feel for craftsmanship, tolerances, finish, and mechanical reliability
• Curiosity about how traditional watchmaking meets modern hardware and electronics
• Meticulous, patient, and uncompromising about quality
• Effective in a small, in-person, high-trust team

‍Nice to have
• Experience at a watch brand, atelier, or high-end repair and restoration workshop
• Familiarity with micro-mechanics or precision assembly
• Interest in consumer hardware, product development, or prototyping

‍About Saef
‍Saef is building the new protection standard for luxury watches. Invisible, always-on hardware goes into the watch. A phone app tells the owner where it is and that it’s safe. We’re a small, senior team of engineers and designers that treats this as a system-level problem: hardware, software, security, and trust, all built together. We’re launching with select partners, with beta planned in 2027. We can demo a real working product at any stage of development. That’s not a tagline. It’s how we work.
